It is not possible to give precise system recommendations since the functionality of the software ArkivDigital online depends on what other programs and processes are running on your computer.
Regarding computer performance the rule "the more the better" is applicable.
ArkivDigital 2.0 beta:
ArkivDigital 2.0 beta works with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. Both for 32 and 64 bits operating systems.
ArkivDigital 2.0 beta works on Mac OS X 10.9 and later. Only on 64 bits operating systems.
And it also works on the Linux distributions Ubuntu 12.04 and later (both on 32 and 64 bits), Fedora 21 and Debian 8.
ArkivDigital 1.5.4 and earlier:
ArkivDigital 1.5.4 works best with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
ArkivDigital 1.5.4 also works with Win 98, Windows 2000 and Windows ME although ArkivDigital cannot guarantee the functionality of the program on these operating systems since Microsoft has stopped providing support for these operating systems.
ArkivDigital 1.5.4 works well also with Linux and Mac OS X 10.4 or higher.
We recommend at least 1 GB of internal memory (RAM) in your computer. Working with color images is more demanding on your computer's memory capacity than black and white images. To minimize transition times ArkivDigital online uses complex compression algorithms and this requires quite a lot of memory. If the internal memory is too small, the computer will automatically use the hard drive as extra memory (virtual memory). This will slow down all image processes and the whole application will be significantly slower.
To work around this problem temporarily it is vital that the right amount if diskspace is allocated for the virtual memory ( See Microsoft pages on the subject).
To use ArkivDigital online without unneccesary inconvenience, broadband is required. We recommend 3-4 Mbps download speed for the application to run smoothly. Note that for both ADSL and Mobile Broadband providing (for example) 7.2 Mbit/s, means that 7.2 Mbit/sec is the maximum speed for this service. Usually the actual speed is much lower.
With mobile broadband the reception ratio is very critical. It can make a big difference to sit near a window instead of inside a room.
